Holiday Home Cleaning

If you've got guests coming for the holidays then you know you need to get your house in tip-top shape. But with all of the gift shopping, baking, cooking, and decorating, you may be feeling overwhelmed! Here is a quick holiday cleaning checklist to help you prepare your home for guests.

Trying to clean with clutter all over the place is stressful! Start by clearing the clutter of every surface in every room. Don't worry, we won't judge you if you throw stuff in drawers or closets! If you have too much stuff and not enough space, consider renting a seasonal storage unit!

Dust gathers in both obvious and overlooked areas. Always dust before vacuuming, otherwise you'll just have to vacuum twice. Be sure to check your blinds, ceiling fans, and behind and under electronics and decorations.

Vacuum, sweep, mop, shampoo! Don't forget to clean under the couch, especially if you have hardwood or tile floors as dust, pet hair, crumbs, and lost toys get end up there. Be sure to spot clean any carpet stains. Make sure you're using products that are safe and designed for your floor type.

Stove drip pans, baked on oven grease, sticky refrigerator shelves and drawers ... gross! You'll want to be sure these areas are clean and sterilized, especially if you'll be cooking for your guests!

Guest Room

If you're hosting overnight guests, you'll want them to feel at home. Wash the sheets and make the bed before they arrive. Clear space in the closet for them to hang any nice clothes. Consider buying a few travel sized toiletries in case they forgot anything - and it's a nice touch!

Bathrooms can quickly get dirty, especially if you have little ones! Give your bathrooms a good deep clean and make sure there are fresh towels, hand soap, toilet paper, and a can of air freshener ready to go. Adding a holiday-themed scent plugin is a nice touch as well as a few small holiday decorations.
