Cleaning After the Holidays

By Blog Author on Tues. Sept. 4th, 2017

The holidays are a wonderful time of joy spent with family and friends. Many of us have extra time of work to relax as well. It is a good idea to use that extra time to get your home back in order for the New Year! But if you don't feel like deep cleaning the entire house, here are a few key areas to focus on:

1. Refrigerator and Freezer - How much food were you able to cram in there? How many things dripped or spilled? Start by removing everything from the refrigerator and freezer, tossing anything that's not good, and cleaning all the shelves and drawers. There will be more sticky spots than you expected!

2. Floors - Crumbs, lint, pine needles, sticky spots! Start with vacuuming thoroughly, then shampoo any carpet, and clean wood floors with the proper products. You don't want to leave any stains sitting too long, so be sure to spot treat any that may have formed.

3. Stove and Oven - Same as the refrigerator ... sticky food that's also baked on! Some ovens have a cleaning function, but be sure to scrub, scrub, scrub! The stove needs some attention too, so consider replacing the drip pans with new ones.

4. Disposal - Our disposals tend to take quite the beating during holiday feasts, especially if something got put down that isn't really supposed to. Show your disposal some love and clean it thoroughly to prevent clogs and plumber bills.

5. Bathrooms - The bathrooms got some extra use this holiday season, so you'll want to give them a good deep clean. Toilets, sinks, floors, tubs, and that grimy shower curtain!

Once you finish cleaning, be sure to do some unwinding before the busy New Year begins!
